Here is how we do it:

We’ll install and update both antivirus and spyware removal software. We recommend McAfee for finding and removing viruses and Spybot for finding and removing spyware. Yes, we will work with your currently installed antivirus and spyware software if you request.

We’ll evaluate the results of the scan and take action. In 85% of infected systems McAfee and Spybot will, with a bit of effort, remove without any major incident all of the viruses and spyware from your system.

10% of infected systems will require manual removal of the virus or spyware. We’ll use HijackThis to identify the specific files that are causing the issues plaguing your system. And Process Explorer with KillBox to remove the nasty items found by HijackThis.

For severely infected systems, about 5%, we’ll need to use tools like Sysinternals to remove the virus or in extreme cases reinstall the operating system.

We’ll educate and train you on the antivirus and spyware software upkeep. We will also recommend other steps that you can take to get your computer running in peak performance and prevent infections from happening in the future.
